This is a tutorial for creating a Maths quiz in Scratch. The user will be asked maths questions. If the answer typed is correct then a message of correct will appear on the screen and if the answer is incorrect then a message of wrong will appear. The main programming concepts are variables, input, output and selection.

Optional challenge activities are:

  • Create a sprite (character) which appears when an answer to a question is correct.
  • Add sounds and movement to the quiz
  • Program the quiz so that it chooses random numbers for the questions.

Scratch is developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab. See http://scratch.mit.edu
